Privacy policy
1. Who is responsible
2UP is developed and published by Dirty Bacon, Geneva, Switzerland (the "controller"). Contact for anything about privacy: hello@play2up.ch.
2. What stays on your phone
Player names and pixel avatars, all-time records and 2UP points, settings, your forged games and hearts, and the number of free tries used. This data is stored only on your device and is deleted when you delete the app. We cannot see it.
3. What our server processes
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| A random install identifier (created by the app, not linked to your name, Apple ID or device ID) | To count free forges and forge credits | As long as you use the app; deleted on request |
| The text you type in the Forge | Sent to the AI provider to build your game | Not stored. Keywords from it are kept with the published game (see 5) |
| Purchase identifiers (Apple's signed transaction) | To verify a purchase and credit forges exactly once | As long as the credits exist; deleted on request |
| Your IP address | Daily limits against abuse of the free forges and sharing | 26 hours |
| Technical server logs | Security and debugging | Up to 7 days |
4. The Forge and AI providers
When you forge a game, the text you typed is sent, with no other personal data, from our server to a large language model provider that writes the game: DeepSeek (servers in the People's Republic of China) by default, or Anthropic (Claude, servers in the United States) in some countries or when DeepSeek is unavailable. Do not type personal information in your game ideas. The returned game runs only inside the app, in a sandbox without network, file or device access.
5. The public library (DISCOVER)
Unless you turn off Settings > Forge > Share my forges, each game you forge is published anonymously in the 2UP library so other players can find and play it: its title, one-line rule, code and a few keywords taken from your idea. Your name, install identifier and typed text are never shown. Hearts, plays and reports are counted per game; a heart or report is recorded once per install identifier. Games reported by several players are hidden and reviewed. To remove a game you published, email us its title. Published games are kept while they are in the library.
6. Purchases and Game Center
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details or Apple ID; we only receive the signed transaction described above. Game Center is optional: if you sign in, your scores and achievements for the side of the table you choose are sent to Apple's Game Center, under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive your Game Center identity.
7. Service providers and transfers abroad
Our server runs on Cloudflare (global network) and the website on Vercel (global network). AI providers are listed in section 4. Some of these providers process data outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area, including in the United States and China. We send them only what each task needs (for the Forge: the text you typed), and rely on their contractual commitments for these transfers.
8. The website
play2up.ch uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers. Our host (Vercel) keeps standard access logs for security.
9. Children
2UP carries an App Store age rating (shown on its product page). It has no accounts and no chat, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The Forge only receives the game idea typed in the app. If you believe a child has sent personal information in a game idea or a published game, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to processing or ask for a copy. Email hello@play2up.ch with the install identifier shown at the bottom of the app's Settings; we answer within 30 days and delete server data tied to it within 7 days. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or your local data protection authority.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date. Material changes are announced in the app's release notes.
